Beginning April 2, 2012 the Department of Public Safety in Texas will require proof of residency in Texas - this is in addition to the social security card and identification requirements already in place.
The details of how to comply with this are available from the Texas DPS website or, if you are using our online Driver Ed in a Box course, it is available to you there.
The purpose of this new requirement is to prevent fraud and to make sure that anyone who receives a Texas driver license or ID actually resides in the state of Texas.
