This is a first generation 2006 model. The Beatles each owned one and the Mini Cooper paved the way for other small cars to be introduced to the world. The transverse mounted, engine which is common practice nowadays was revolutionary at the time.The Mini had major mechanical problems including but not limited to the power steering pump failure, broken timing chain and coolant leaks which could potentially overheat the engine. The automatic transmission had major problems and the manual transmission was weak. Premature wear and throw out bearing failure were quite common. It is not uncommon to see early trouble at 30k-40k and 50k miles. I do not recommend a Mini Cooper as a used car purchase.
