Clutch Slave Change. !987-1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ 2.5L with the AX5 transmission which came stock. YJ owners are aware of how issue prone these Combination Clutch slave/throwout bearing combinations are. In August 2017 I installed a new hydraulic unit, Clutch plate and pressure plate. By November the hydraulic unit (slave/throwout unit) was leaking once again through the bottom of the bellhousing. Midway throught 1994 and the last production year, 1995, Jeep changed to the external clutch slave unit. The internal unit requires you to drop the entire drivetrain to access the hydraulic unit inside the bellhousing.I have gone through the unit that came with my LUK clutch kit (Crown) and a replacement (Omix ADA). I am replacing the Omix-ADA with a BRUTE POWER/PERFECTION CLUTCH 360088 Clutch Slave Cylinder from Rock Auto. The components in the previous two units are plastic. I am trying the Brute Power unit this time as it is cast aluminum and brags that it is superior to the plastic units.
