How to Change Your Stock Gauge Light Up Colors. Here's a short video I made about how to change the color that your stock gauges lines light up. I'm doing this on my 2003 Crown Victoria. I'm not sure if its the same process for other cars.
I'm also changing the lighting itself for the gauges to natural white LEDs at this time too to change it away from that yellowish look.
How to do this on the Crown Vic you take the dash apart (ask me how to do this if your not sure I may make a video at a later time about it) and then when you get to the gauge cluster it'll have 4 7mm bolts to take out. Then you can kind of pull the bottom of the whole gauge cluster towards you which then you can reach behind and unclip the 2 wiring harnesses attached to the gauge clusters.
Then once that's out you take a 7/32 socket and remove the 8 bolts holding the clear and black plastic over the white plastic part of the gauge cluster and pull it apart.
Then you gently pull off the gauge needles and then peel off the whole face of the gauge (it's held on by sticky glue stuff so it may be a little hard but be careful not to really bend it too much or crease it).
Then you take 2000 grit sandpaper (you might be able to use 1000-1500) after figuring out which lines you want what color and start sanding off on the back side of the gauge where its greenish/grey only in the spots you want to change the colors at. Do that until its white in that spot instead of being the green/grey. (you can put a peice of tape over the ones you don't want to change the color of so you don't accidently sand those off too)
EDIT:Using a sanding block like the kind you use on plaster walls works really good to get the old green filter off the back of the gauges. Found it out today doing the other 3 gauge faces
Then use the colored see through stick on stuff you can find at places where you can get school supplies at (not sure the real name of it) and cut it to the shape of the white spots you sanded and stick them on.
Hold it up to a light to make sure you got it good. Then take some glue and glue the gauge faces back onto the cluster and reverse the steps.
Special thanks to those who helped me out with this project telling me how to do it and getting me the blue film
P.S. Yes I know the desk is messy and I may have been mumbling because its late and I had a long day
