How To Install Windows 95 On An SSD Without A Floppy Drive. In this video I will show you how to install Windows 95 on a Solid State Drive (SSD) without using a floppy drive or boot disk or disk management floppy of any kind, we will be using a THICC Compaq Armada 7730MT Laptop from 1997 for our testing and explanation purposes.
PLEASE DONATE TO GIRAFFE(check info below) if you do the next vid will be funded and I'll grab a voodoo 5 5500 to make this run crysis
Pentium MMX 166 Mhz
32gb Kingspec PATA SSD
S3 Aurora 64V+ 2mb graphics card
Startech USB 2.0 Pcmcia card
The Bios on this model is actually limited by default to 8gb, so to bypass that issue watch the video, back in the day you'd probably use a floppy disk with some kind of partition magic tool to reformat the second partition to fill the rest of the drive, but I'll show a modern approach instead, since we are doing this without any floppy drive.
It actually takes a notably long time to get things ready for it to install windows 95 without a floppy disk, around an hour of time was spent trying to figure out how to do it properly.
Things you will need:
Windows 98 Install disk (preferably OEM)
Burned/back up copy of Windows 95 C/B with usb support
USB - IDE transfer adapter cable:
Ease US Partition Master:
https://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/ (use the full version)
a Pata/IDE SSD:
Small screwdrivers (phillips)
Startech USB 2.0 PCMCIA adapter (for transferring games faster)
(thats like the best deal on a 256gb flash drive ever)
If you do everything correctly that I did in the video, you should have windows 95 running on a partitioned SSD, in a computer without a floppy drive, and be able to get all the drivers added via usb stick
and also be able to mount ISO images with daemon tools to run games without even a cd drive.
If you liked this tutorial and want to help giraffe with his music career or with getting more odd shit to do things with (whatever you suggest in the comments is probably fair game), then please donate to giraffe. We live in a world where twitch streamers randomly get 10,000 dollars for just playing fortnite, so I'm interested in seeing how loyal my base is when I ask for this sort of assistance.
if you wish to donate, just leave me a email or use google wallet
Music used in video:
One Must Fall 2097 menu theme (rare trap remix, unknown artist)
Sonic Heroes Special Stage Theme (Giraffe x Barx Trap Remix)
(to be uploaded in the near future)
Toto - Africa (Shitty Midi Remix)
Weird Golf Stock Music Song that I don't know the name of
Macintosh 420 - Floral Shoppe
One Must Fall 2097 - Theme
Windows 95 Startup Sound
Windows 95 on a Solid State Drive boots very fast considering the age of the hardware, beating even an ipad in boot time.
It is still a very usable operating system, if you happen to be a college student I highly suggest using it, word 97 runs like a dream
the 166mhz pentium mmx might hold a student back in terms of using the internet, but, doing pretty much anything else that a normal person would need is doable, and with flash drives you can still easily transfer data from it.
however, giraffe is not a normal person, and his RX 580 died so he made this video while they RMA it.
help giraffe make more money so that he can do more things
leave a comment with what graphics card you want me to pair with this, PCI only, PCI-express cards won't work
if I get enough cash we will get the docking station and card/s of choice of the commenters, if your donation is unrelated to this project and is for music, tell me in an email.
