Muffler Replacement on 2002 Nissan Altima DIY. In this video, I install a new muffler on my car. I end up welding it on and fabricating a exhaust hanger which I will cover in a separate video. I then spray the welds with high heat Rustoleum enamel. To do the welding, I use my Harbor Freight flux core welder which I purchased for around $89.99. I find myself using this welder often for car repair projects so I would definitely recommend buying one if you plan on doing your own car maintenance and repair work like I do. My welds are as sloppy as can be, and I think it has to do with bad welding wire, however, I make my welds nice and thick with several passes so that I am certain they will hold and that there are no leaks. In between passes of the welder I use wire brush to clean the welds. This removes anything slag that could mess up the next welding pass.
