How To Replace the Charging Port On an Amazon Kindle Fire SR043KL Supplemental Video. This short video is meant to be an ESSENTIAL “in addition to” Video for other videos already out there, on how to replace the charging port on an Amazon Kindle Fire SR043KL. When the micro USB charging port went bad and no longer allowed for charging, I thought I would help my friend out and solder a new one in for him, because I have had many years of experience with soldering. The videos on YouTube that I found made it look doable. I tried for days, with no success. The connections are too small and too close together. The connections are about a half a millimeter apart, so the connections either didn’t solder or bridged to the adjacent connection. Terrible. Of course, never made for humans to solder in the first place.
Then I found a solution, and thought I would share it with the rest of the class:
You only have to solder two connections! The outer two power connections, because it is a charging port! Don’t use it for data. Cut off all the rest of the metal that stands in your way. Do it carefully and you can do it. Much easier soldering then! Watch the video for the details. Good luck! :)
