Real ID Overview. As of October 1, 2020, a Real ID-compliant driver’s license, permit, or identification card will be required to board commercial airplanes or enter certain federal facilities.
To upgrade to a Real ID, Indiana residents must visit a BMV branch and bring the required documents which prove their identity (name and date of birth), Social Security number, lawful status in the United States, and Indiana residency.
