Dr Richie in 60 E5 Identifying Core Beliefs. How to begin identifying some of your core beliefs. 1) Do an online search for examples of core beliefs and see which ones resonate with you at a gut level. 2) Write down your thoughts and look for themes underlying these thoughts. Then, ask yourself, "What does this say about me?" Often, the way you answer that question gives you insight into one of the core beliefs you have about yourself. 3) Work with a therapist familiar with CBT. When you work with a therapist, you engage in a type of Socratic questioning, which can help you uncover some of the beliefs you have about yourself.
