Getting Cabrillo files out of N3FJP contest loggers on Win7 or Vista. Note: This video is somewhat obsolete. Newer versions of the N3FJP software removed the incompatibility that necessitated the use of the procedure described in this video to find the Cabrillo or other export files. At some point I hope to find time to make a video about installing the software and finding export files on Windows 8 with the latest version.
IMHO, N3FJP (www.n3fjp.com) writes some of the best amateur radio contest logging software available. It has been around for years and has stood the test of time. However, Microsoft has made numerous changes to the Windows OS over the years and that has resulted in some complications with the N3FJP software suite. This video demonstrates how to work around the most common of those issues. That being difficulty finding the export files generated by the software.
Update for Windows 8/8.1 users: The "compatibility files" as shown in the video no longer exists. The easiest way to locate it in Windows 8 and 8,1 is to press Windows + R to bring up the "Run" dialog. Type "%LocalAppData%\VirtualStore" in the "Open" box and hit enter. That will bring up the "VirtualStore" folder. You should see the "Program Files" and/or "Program Files (x86)" folders. If you have both, you'll need to double click the "Program Files (x86)" folder and then the folder for your contest logger.
